Linking educational attainment and achievement with sport may not seem like an obvious fit. However for the last decade that is exactly what has been happening five evenings per week in the Headingley Learning Centre, Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
Under the auspices of the nationally run programme Playing for Success, boys and girls have been attending weekly sessions over a 10 week period developing their skills in literacy, numeracy and ITC.
Having access to state of the art educational facilities in the stadium, along with the inspirational setting itself and the positive influence and examples of the players and staff working from Headingley Carnegie Stadium has made a genuine difference to the lives of thousands of youngsters over the years.
For the future Leeds Rugby Foundation intends to work with its partners to extend the level of educational provision on offer to the community both at the stadium and as part of a wider outreach programme.
